Notre Dame Of Maryland College

Dr. Yam, distinguished presidents, delegates, Secretary Hunter-Cevera, Chairman Gemignani and the Trustees of the University, esteemed faculty, college students, alumni, and revered guests - good morning.

I deliver you greetings and congratulations from the Mayor of the town of Baltimore, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake; the Comptroller of the city of Baltimore, Joan Pratt; and from the President of the Baltimore Metropolis Council, Bernard C. “Jack” Young; in addition to from the entire Metropolis Council of Baltimore.

I am significantly enthusiastic to be right here with you at this time given my private connections to Notre Dame. To begin with, my mom is a double alumna right here - having received both her undergraduate degree and her masters in management - and is a former worker of the Library. In actual fact, when my sister and i had been in grade school, my mother would walk us back to work along with her on daily basis after faculty, by means of the completely stunningly-gorgeous campus.

Second, having identified how  社長挨拶  is round right here since I was a kid, when i got married, I talked my spouse into a home down the street from the Library…so we have been neighbors of Notre Dame for over twenty years. Residing so near Notre Dame has provided many advantages: sledding, educating our children to ride bikes and play tennis, and of course, the opportunity to walk here this morning!

Third, and maybe most fitting given the occasion, throughout my own undergraduate expertise at another institution of upper training down the road, I took benefit of cross-registration to enroll in a course myself on the then-School of Notre Dame of Maryland, throughout my senior yr. I stand here this morning, bringing you these greetings, just a few buildings over from the place I accomplished “Introduction to Public Speaking” almost 23 years ago.

It is connections like these which bind Notre Dame to hundreds of Baltimoreans and Marylanders. As the city Councilperson for this district, I've been happy and proud to be a part of Notre Dame’s ever-growing dedication to its surrounding neighborhood, watching because it knits itself ever tighter to our civic and social fabric.

Notre Dame of Maryland College, under both its new identify and its outdated one, has been considered one of this City’s most revered institutions for generations, and all of us at City Hall are delighted to see it continue to move ahead underneath Dr. Yam’s management. Thanks.
